Is Canyons Aquatics finally coming around?

Well, it has been two months and two weeks since this blog was started with the intention of cleaning up Canyons Aquatics, taking it back for our kids, and finally making it a club we can all be proud of.

But have we really turned that critical corner?

With over 20,000 page views and close to 200 comments in less than three months time, it goes without saying LOTS of parents agree change needs to happen in coaching, pool assignments and management and financial oversight of the club.

But lets all weigh in on this. Have we made that critical course correction?

Here at Canyons Informer we honestly believe a paradigm shift has occurred and things are slowly getting better.

But can we maintain our new direction?

  1. I know my kid claims Jay is a lot nicer. Hopefully he will finally live up to his potential.

    2. Jay. I think he is finally going to live up to his potential as a coach.

  2. Some coaches are doing better. Others still need improvement. But the board still needs to address the missing money issues. They need to come clean about the financial fraud.

Although I doubt that will happen. They simply hope this blog will die and go away.

Which us parents will never let happen! Because as long as this blog exists everybody will be on notice.

People will think before they act.

    Keep it going Informer!

    1. I think Coley is doing great. My kid is dropping time. He just got another sectional time.

I hope the other coaches can learn from Coley. He has a lot to share.

  3. Glad this blog is still active. I think Canyons is getting better. Change takes time. Keep it up parents and coaches. We can do it.

  4. At the next board meeting I think we should all vote the Canyons Informer in as a board member.

He or she has done more for the health of the club than anyone I know of in recent history.

That hard work and courage should be rewarded.

  5. This blog needs to continue. It has done so much for our club. The one thing that haunts me is the money. What is happening with the money?

  6. I am happy to hear about Coley's coaching and the child who achieved a Sectional Time. However, Coley's job is to look at all groups within the club so that every child has a path towards becoming Senior Elite, not just the select few.

A coach being nice to a swimmer - that is part of their job. Talking to parents, not ignoring them, is part of their job. Setting goals for the swimmer, part of their job.

What about the bigger picture - goals, objectives, groups with strong coaches at the forefront to prepare the kids for Senior Elite, and yes, transparency in the financial issues.

We will lose great swimmers, and we are...

  7. Canyons is improving. Maybe not as fast as some of us parents want to see it improve, but if we all stay focused and involved it will continue to get better.

I venture to guess the blame for the troubles the club was/is having really falls on us lazy parents who are too scared, busy, or simply lazy to speak up when we see something wrong occurring right in front of our eyes.

If we all stay alert and plugged in, the club will continue to improve without a doubt.

We need to continue moving forward.
